smart.router exists to notice when an internet connection fails and to move you off it. Telling you is half the job. This page lists every message the service can send, who receives it, and how to stop it.
Last updated 26 August 2026.
| Message | When |
|---|---|
| Switched to a backup | Your main connection stopped working and traffic moved automatically. Sent after a short hold-down, so a connection that blinks and returns does not wake anybody. |
| Still on a backup | An optional reminder while your main connection has not come back. You choose the interval, or switch it off entirely. |
| Back on your main connection | It recovered. Only ever sent to somebody who was told it broke. |
| Now using the connection you chose | You changed which connection is primary yourself, from the app, and the router did it. A confirmation, not an alarm. |
That is the entire list. There is no newsletter, no product announcement, no promotion, and no digest.
There is no mailing list, no imported contacts, and no way to be added except by an invitation from the owner of the router concerned. Remove the invitation and the messages stop.
Each person sets their own preferences, per router, in the app under Settings then Preferences. Failure alerts, recovery messages, the reminder interval and the switch confirmation are separate switches. Two people watching the same router can hold different settings and neither overrides the other. To stop everything, ask the router's owner to remove your access.
